The one key thing Jesus asked His followers to do was to help others learn to follow Him too; we call that Discipleship.  The big question is, do we know how to do this?  How do we become fully devoted followers of Jesus?  We have plenty of information, but Information alone doesn't help us learn to follow Jesus.  There is more and it's not difficult to understand.
